Youth empowerment is an attitudinal, structural, and cultural process whereby young people gain the ability, authority, and agency to make decisions and implement change in their own lives and the lives of other people, including youth and adults. (Encyclopedia). If this beautiful definition of youth empowerment was the case in many parts of our country, we will be counted as one of the best countries.
Unfortunately, the basic path to empowerment is diverted by some so called leaders for their paroquial gains, be it political, social or economic. This basic path is education (formal, non-formal or informal). Teach the child the way he should go and when he grows, he will not depart from it; sayeth the holy book. What do we see today? Leaders recruit innocent youth to engage in barbaric acts to make themselves popular or richer.
It is time for the youth of Ghana and Biakoye to say no to deceptive leaders and take their own destinies into their own hands for a better future.
