I WILL WRITE WITH CAUTION
I have learnt a few things from my writing about people the way i do. I have realized especially in my last piece that, when you have a good relationship with someone and you write 'ill' about him or her, responding in like manner becomes problematic. They wish you were not their friend so they could deal with you.
In my last piece, i resorted to pairings, insinuations, names calling and revelations. The parts that hurt most from my checks were the revelations and insinuations. The last two were taken in the words of Sir John, JM aka, Nkomode. Thanks friends.
You remember that piece called, DEAR JOHN? Yea, the one about a John with a key quality; kindness. He happens to be my host from April 12 to 14 in Tamale. I love that man for another thing; he does not fear what i can do on a market day. Market days are the busiest day at my village - Tapa Abotoase. Those are the days people come to town from far and near. Those are the days of noise making, fighting, love proposals, rivalry, stealing and age old barter trading. It is one these days that, the queenmother is likely to come out to sell, the chief is likely to drive his trotro and the chief inspector is likely to be arrested as a pick pocket. Market days are full of surprises.
On July 7, 2007, I was the Bestman for Ato at his wedding with Dr. Adesope, a gesture the groom was uncomfortable with. He told his will-be wife, 'this best man you are opting for, do you know what he can do on a market day?' The bride insisted I should be and I was. Funnily, the man ensured the best man was not the one to propose the toast; in his words, ' dump best man' God works in mysterious ways; at the time for proposal of toast, the man billed to do so had responded to a call. Could it be nature's call? I had to fill that yawning gap. It was a market day, field day, revelation day, free speech day.
John who swore to reply my write up stopped because he felt I should be forgiven as part of the kind(ness) gesture. I wonder if he remembers that he just let me go. Remember Kombien? He had to be rearrested and imprisoned to stop him from his acts. 13-04-2013 is a market day at Tamale and I am suppose to be the supervisor of the afternoon/evening market - can you imagine his brevity? Anyway, I will report cautiously what I do, see, hear, say, taste, feel and experience. In fact, I will simply caption it, 'JOHN'S KINDNESS' All the best.
Let me on this note and in the spirit of friendship state that, my last piece was not meant to defame any friend or person, known or unknown. If it did intentionally or unintentionally cause any friend or enemy any inconvenience, I apologize for my lack of caution in writing. I promise in high esteem to write in recent times with caution. If it has to do with religion or politics, I will stay away. Good Day friend. In the spirit of same caution, I will not edit this piece. Notify me when you find any error, including, 'am' for I'm, towro for towel and chingun for chewing gum.
